Assistant Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) and, by courtesy, of Health Research and Policy (Epidemiology)
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Our laboratory aims to develop and test innovative approaches to the diagnosis, treatment and control of infectious diseases in resource-limited settings. We draw upon multiple fields including mathematical modeling, microbial genetics, field epidemiology, statistical inference and biodesign to work on challenging problems in infectious diseases, with an emphasis on tuberculosis and tropical diseases.
Masters Student in Epidemiology and Clinical Research, admitted Autumn 2015
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Examining outcomes of operative intervention and medical management of both Stanford Type A and Type B dissection. I hope to use computational fluid dynamics in CT Angiogram to evaluate false lumen flow in the descending aorta after acute type B aortic dissection or repaired acute type A aortic dissection in order to predict aneurysmal dilatation in the chronic phase.
Mark R. Cullen, MD
Professor of Medicine (General Internal Medicine), of Biomedical Data Science and of Health Research and Policy (Epidemiology)
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Social and environmental determinants of health; role of workplace physical environment and work organization as causes of chronic disease and disability
Amy D. Dobberfuhl, M.D.
Postdoctoral Medical fellow, Urology
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Neurourology & Voiding Dysfunction (Basic Science & Clinical Research): Animal models of voiding and pelvic floor dysfunction (mouse, rat, rabbit), molecular cell signaling inflammatory pathways, urinary incontinence, bladder outlet obstruction, urodynamics, pelvic floor ischemia and tissue mechanics
Professor of Medicine (Oncology) and, by courtesy, of Health Research and Policy (Epidemiology)
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Robert’s main areas of research interest include genetics, cancer epidemiology and cancer health disparities with a focus on genetic and epidemiologic studies of colon and breast cancer.
Professor (Research) of Pediatrics (Adolescent Medicine) and, by courtesy, of Health Research and Policy (Epidemiology)
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Research focuses on developmental, cognitive and psychosocial factors involved in adolescents’ and young adults’ health-related decision-making, perceptions of risk and vulnerability, health communication and risk behavior. My research has focused on understanding and reducing health risk behaviors such as tobacco use, alcohol and marijuana use, risky driving, and risky sexual behavior.
Instructor, Medicine - General Medical Disciplines
Current Research and Scholarly Interests My research investigates the pathways linking poverty and health disparities. In particular, I study the impact on health outcomes of social and economic factors using interdisciplinary causal inference methods. I am interested in the mechanisms through which adverse socioeconomic conditions get "under the skin" to cause health disparities.
Victor W. Henderson, MD, MS
Professor of Health Research and Policy (Epidemiology) and of Neurology
Current Research and Scholarly Interests Research interests:
(1) Risk factors for age-associated cognitive decline and for dementia.
(2) Therapeutic strategies to improve cognitive function in aging and in dementia.
(3) Brain-behavior relations as they pertain to human cognition.
